What is Salesforce? Let’s Know More About It!
I will start this post by saying “Salesforce is awesome” and you will know why 🙂
So what is Salesforce?
Salesforce is a customer relationship management (CRM) system, but it’s different from just about any other software solution you’ve ever used.
Unlike traditional software, Salesforce is an Internet-based service that requires no software installation on your part. You have to simply log in as you would on any other Website.
Here is one of the early Salesforce logos emphasizing No Software.
So what does this No Software means for Salesforce?
Instead of buying software licenses and installing it on your own hardware in your own data center, Salesforce transformed the industry by introducing the notion of running the software on its servers and selling subscriptions.
This approach of several customers running on the same server at the same time came to be known as multi-tenancy, and it made resource distribution far more efficient.
Let’s understand this with the project lifecycle as follows:
As seen from the above image if a project has to be implemented via a legacy system then it required you to set up your server, buy different software and its installation and licensing management, user provisioning, analytics setup, robust data/app security, and finally build a mobile app for your user.
This entire project journey may take about 6-12 months depending upon the complexity and logistics.
However, if you go via Salesforce you can focus on building and developing the application rather than spending time and money on setting up the infrastructure.
As seen in the above image you have to only focus on the configuration and development part of your project.
With Salesforce, you will have a full suite of services to manage the customer lifecycle. This includes tools to pursue leads, manage accounts, track opportunities, resolve cases, and more.
Depending on your team’s objectives, you might use all Salesforce tools from day one or just the functionality to address the priorities at hand.
The more you and your team adopt Salesforce into your work, the more information you’ll have at your fingertips to deepen customer relationships and improve your overall business.
